Chatham-Kent will soon be on the search for a new general manager of Community Development.
Effective Aug. 10, John Norton who held the position will be leaving the municipality to accept a position as chief administrative officer (CAO) for the Township of Georgian Bluffs, Ontario.
“It is with mixed emotions that I step away from my current position to take up a new challenge and opportunity. I have loved this job. I love this community and I hope it will be said that I contributed something. I am incredibly grateful for the team members who have supported me and helped me find success,” Norton said.
Chatham-Kent CAO Don Shropshire, made the announcement Thursday morning.
“Since joining the municipality in 2011, John has served the community very well,” Shropshire said. “He has played a key role in developing our growth strategy and in supporting the Community Development Advisory Committee chaired by councillor Aaron Hall. We wish him the very best in his new role.”
Most recently Norton worked in the CK Growth Strategy and business economic recovery during the COVID-19 crisis and helped bring together the Economic Recovery Task Force. He also served as chief legal officer for Chatham-Kent.
