The strange days of Christmas continued early this morning.
Following teenaged attacks and a drug-addled home invasion in recent days, Chatham-Kent police reported officers were involved in a high-speed chase early Friday morning.
Police spotted a stolen vehicle on Grand Avenue East in Chatham and took up pursuit.
Police say officers tried a blocking manoeuvre, with the stolen vehicle running into a cruiser before taking off at a high rate of speed.
The chase continued briefly before officers called off the pursuit due to safety reasons.
The vehicle was located outside of Chatham on a county road, police say, but the suspect had fled.
The OPP brought in a K9 unit to help track the suspect.
Later this morning, police say a homeowner spotted a man sleeping in a different vehicle in the area where the stolen ride was abandoned. The man fled prior to police arrival, but was arrested a short time later.
The incident remains under investigation.
