Short joy ride

A car thief didn’t get very far last night, but the theft should serve as a reminder to all drivers not to leave their keys in the car.

Chatham-Kent police say about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a woman arrived home and brought her child into their home, but left the keys in the ignition.

A man jumped in and drove off.

Police say officers flooded the area and found the car at a nearby convenience store.

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
