Chatham-Kent Professional Firefighters Association members Tyler Hartsell, Derek Buchanan, Jon Benoit, Mike Gifford, James Lambombard and P.J. Laprise promote the first Breast Cancer Awareness run as part of the annual campaign. The association donated $20,000 to charity last year.

Every year the Chatham-Kent Professional Firefighters Association members participate in a number of charitable events.

“We want to support our community anyway we can,” CKPFFA President Neil Woods in a media release. “From sponsoring sports teams, to supporting breast cancer awareness, to helping families in need at Christmas – we just want to give back.”

Members spent 2018 engaging in a variety events, fundraising campaigns, and sponsorships. The association funds hockey, soccer, and baseball teams in both Chatham and Wallaceburg.

“One of our largest events is the golf tournament in May,” said Woods, “Not only is it supported by our membership, we also receive numerous donations from local businesses.”

The CKPFFA Golf Tournament raised $14,000, which was split between the Chatham-Kent Hospice and Muscular Dystrophy Canada – Chatham-Kent.
