Sir: Today is World Cancer Day and we at the Canadian Cancer Society want to thank our donors and supporters for all they’ve done and will do to help us achieve our vision of a world where no Canadian fears cancer.
With nearly one in two Canadians expected to receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, most people have been, or will be, affected by cancer in some way.
Perhaps you know someone who is living with the disease, or maybe you’ve made a donation to support cancer research. You could be caring for a loved one with cancer, or perhaps you’ve received a diagnosis yourself.
At the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), we know that while cancer changes people, it doesn’t have to define them. We believe that life is bigger than cancer.
As the only national charity that supports Canadians with all cancers in communities across the country – no other organization enables and empowers what CCS does. As the voice for Canadians who care about cancer, we:
- fund groundbreaking research into more than 100 types of cancer;
- offer trusted information, programs and services that help people with cancer and their families when they’re unsure or anxious; and
- advocate to governments to drive important social change and funding for cancer related issues.
As you take the time today to think about how cancer has touched your life, we invite you to continue to make a difference for yourself and your fellow Canadians by visiting cancer.ca for more information or to make a donation.
As always, you can call CCS at 1-888-939-3333 or visit cancer.ca if you need support or information.
