Police had to use a Taser on a man in Tilbury last night.

According to Chatham-Kent police, officers responded to a report of two suspicious people walking on Mill Street in Tilbury Tuesday night. The officers found the couple and through investigation determined the man was intoxicated.

He refused to identify himself, police say, and became belligerent and confrontational.

As police went to arrest the man, he began to resist and grabbed an officer. At that point, police used the Taser.

A 42-year-old Raleigh Township man is charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.
