Chatham-Kent police have one man in custody and are still looking for another following a daylight break-in yesterday in Chatham.

Police say an observant citizen called them reporting two suspicious men seen in the area of Canterbury Street in Chatham Monday afternoon. As officers arrived, the men fled from a residence, running in different directions.

They dropped a backpack containing jewelry, cash, screwdrivers, a crowbar, pipe wrench, chisel, flashlight and empty garbage bags, police say.

Cop dog Arry got the call to sniff down the suspects. He tracked one down to where he was hiding in the bushes on Semenyn Avenue.

A 28-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter, theft, possession of stolen property and possession of break-in tools.

Police continue to search for the second suspect.
