It took a couple of months, but Chatham-Kent police believe they have the man responsible for an August car theft.

Police say on Aug. 8, a man stole a vehicle that was left running and unattended on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

At the time, the owner saw what was happening and tried to stop the man, but police say the thief reversed quickly and hit another vehicle before fleeing.

Officers investigated and determined who their suspect was, obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

Monday night, officers found their suspect.

A 29-year-old Chatham man is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while disqualified.
