As we head into a busy holiday weekend, be advised that the Third Street Bridge in Chatham is closed to vehicular traffic due to safety concerns.
Municipal officials say a routine inspection of the bridge, something that is done annually of spans greater than three metres, unveiled areas of concern.
In order to ensure public safety, the Third Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic today until temporary repairs can be completed.
The bridge will remain open for pedestrian traffic.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is currently working towards a solution to have temporary repairs completed as soon as possible in order to minimize the length of the closure.
