On the last day to announce one’s intention to run in this fall’s municipal election, six people came forward, and one withdrew.
It was the final flurry in a busy final week at the municipal clerk’s office.
East Kent incumbent David VanDamme withdrew from this fall’s election at the last second. A day earlier, Chris Glassford pulled out of running for council in Wallaceburg.
In terms of additions over the past week, Amy Finn and Don “Sparky” Leonard filed their papers to seek council seats representing Ward 6, Chatham. So too did Don Fuoco, Gordon Thomas and Penelope Duchesne.
Jordan Dell, Ward 1; Mary Anne Udvari, Ward 4; John Wright, Ward 3; Anthony Ceccacci, Ward 2; Jamie McGrail, Ward 4; and Amy Dalton, Ward 2, also announced their intentions to run for council.
Allan Traylor, who sought the mayor’s chair in 2010, is back at it, as he filed to run for the position this fall as well.
Rich Gebal seeks to represent on the English Catholic board.
John Paul Balagtas and Eric Montgomery look to each earn a seat on the public school board.
Bernard Tremblay has filed to run for trustee with the French separate board.
They join mayoral hopefuls Darrin Canniff, Robert Power, Alysson Storey and Harold Atkinson, who will go up against incumbent Randy Hope.
Council hopefuls in Ward 1, West Kent, are incumbents Bryon Fluker and Mark Authier, as well as Mark Pastorius and Melissa Harrigan.
For Ward 2, South Kent, Art Stirling, Henry Svec, Mary Clare Latimer, Tanya Bondy and incumbents Frank Vercouteren and Trevor Thompson have announced they are running.
In Ward 3, East Kent, incumbent Steve Pinsonneault signed up to do it again, while MaryAnn Hawthorne will run as well.
As for Ward 4, North Kent, Jessica Brooks, Dylan McLay, Steven Scott, Patricia Sylvain and Joey Cyples announced their intentions to run, as did incumbent Joe Faas.
Up in Ward 5, Wallaceburg, Aaron Hall, Randy McNeil, Nicolas Cadotte and incumbent Carmen McGregor have filed their papers.
And in Ward 6, Chatham, incumbents Doug Sulman, Brock McGregor and Michael Bondy, Marjorie Crew, Larry Vellinga, James Thompson, Ryan Jackson; Chris June, Kirk Hooker, Drew Simpson, Les Banks and Karen Kirkwood-Whyte are running.
Scott McKinlay, Randy Campbell, Patricia Pook, Carol Bryden, Janet Barnes, Louise Aitken, David Argenti, John Mrnik, Bob Demers, Pierre Lambert, Brenda Rumble, Shannon Sasseville, Ruth Ann Dodman, Derek Robertson and John Van Heck are seeking positions as school board trustees.
Meanwhile, John Cryderman has filed to be recognized as a potential third-party advertiser.
