A routine traffic stop Monday morning led to a slew of charges for the driver and passenger.
Chatham-Kent police say an officer pulled a vehicle over about 11:30 a.m. on Queen Street in Chatham.
The officer confirmed the driver’s license was suspended, police say, and the man was arrested.
A search of the man revealed various forms of identification and credit cards reported stolen earlier this month.
Upon additional investigation, the officer learned the man was currently bound by conditions not to possess any bank cards not in his name.
A 34-year-old Chatham man is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply.
During the traffic stop, police say the officer detected a strong odour of marijuana from the passenger side of the vehicle. The officer spotted the passenger’s purse and searched it, finding various drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and hydromorphone. She was also in possession of a digital scale, clear plastic bags, glass pipes and a quantity of cash.
A 40-year-old Chatham woman is charged with five counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking and failing to comply.
