Here’s what not to do when an ATM eats your bankcard: Beat the mechanical snot out of the machine.
That’s apparently what happened back in February in Chatham. Police say on Feb. 17, a man tried to use an ATM at a business and his card got stuck. The man then opened the machine’s front cover and ripped out the card reader, causing about $1,000 in damage.
Police investigated and identified their suspect.
Last night, police say he turned himself in.
A 24-year-old Blenheim man is charged with mischief.
