Leah Barnier isn’t your typical eight-year-old child.
For her eighth birthday recently, she asked friends and family for gift cards instead of presents, and informed them it was for the hospice, not her.
As a result, Barnier donated $375 in gift cards to the hospice.
“Gift cards are a great way to help our hospice families, especially in our kitchen, which is one of the busiest spots at the hospice,” Jodi Maroney, Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, said in a release. “We are so touched by Leah’s generous gesture to celebrate her birthday and to honour her loved one.”
Hospice Foundation officials say the donation touched the hearts of everyone involved.
