The province’s Special Investigation’s Unit has been called in to investigate a March 11 arrest in Chatham.
According to Chatham-Kent OPP, officers stopped a vehicle on Park Avenue East in Chatham about midnight March 11.
The female driver was arrested, but during the altercation, she suffered injuries and had to be taken to hospital, police say, where she was treated, released and placed in police custody.
A 24-year-old Chatham woman is charged with failing or refusing to provide a sample, resisting a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer, fleeing custody and obstructing police.
The OPP notified the SIU of what occurred, and the organization invoked its mandate to investigate.
