Traffic stop leads to plenty of charges

A Saturday night cruise for a Chatham man resulted in a slew of charges.

Chatham-Kent police say officers spotted a man known to them out driving on St. Anthony Street about 10:25 p.m. Saturday, but he was known to have a 10 p.m. curfew.

The officers pulled the vehicle over, confirmed the driver was indeed the person in question, placed him under arrest, and searched the vehicle.

As a result, a 44-year-old Chatham man faces five counts of breach of recognizance, two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless transportation of a fire arm, careless transportation of ammunition, unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle, and possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence.
