Chatham-Kent police are asking the public to help them piece together what happened this morning when a child got hit by a minivan in Chatham.
Police say at about 9 a.m., a young girl got clipped by the van at the intersection of Sandys Street and McNaughton Avenue.
The driver, police say, initially stopped to make sure the young girl was OK. Because the girl was fine, he and the girl went their separate ways.
According to a witness, the driver appeared to be an older man with grey hair.
An officer has since spoken to the child and her parents to confirm she’s fine, but police would like to speak to other witnesses and the driver of the van.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Nicole Kadour at nicolek@chatham-kent.ca or 519-352-1234. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
