The Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) recently hosted its 6th Annual Charity Curling Classic at the Sydenham Community Curling Club in Wallaceburg.
Sixteen teams of four participated in this event and helped raise $10,000 through sponsorship, pledges, 50/50 draw and a silent auction.
Proceeds from the event will support the Foundation of CKHA’s $6.9 million CKHA Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign, which currently sits at $4.3 million raised.
The Curling Classic featured two, six-end, games of curling, lunch, dinner, a dance and prizes. All participants were asked to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges for this event in support of the CKHA Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign.
The event’s top fundraising teams were CKHA’s own Diagnostic Imaging staff teams Sweeping Bones and Social Rinkers, with $1,755 raised through pledges. Honourable mention goes out to team Entegrus for raising more than $925 in pledges. Taking home the title of the event’s points leader and winning team was Get Off Your Rocks members Cheryl Apers, Mike Decock, Michelle Decock and Jane Maneke.
“This year’s event had a great atmosphere and was a huge success at raising funds for the Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign,” Barbara Noorenberghe, Development Officer, Foundation of CKHA said in a release. “This event helped us raise much-needed funds to support the CKHA Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign and provided us with the opportunity to connect with our supporters in Wallaceburg and surrounding areas.”
