A Chatham man was arrested yesterday on sexual assault charges.
On July 19 just before noon, a local woman in an electric scooter was stopped in the area of St. Clair Street and Thames Street in Chatham. The man, riding his bike, stopped to talk to the woman, who was unknown to him. During their conversation, he physically touched her in a sexual manner. The woman was able to flee the area and police were called when she got home.
Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.
Yesterday morning, the 65-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He was released pending a future court date of August 10.
