Video posted to social media helped find a bike thief in Chatham, according to Chatham-Kent police.
On June 24, a youth stole a blue City Roadster bike from a residence on Campbell Street in Chatham. The incident was caught on a security camera in the area. The victim posted the information on social media which resulted in the youth being identified. On June 28, 2016, police were contacted and the bike was recovered on Byng Avenue and returned to the owner.
Early this morning, the 16-year-old Dresden youth was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of July 25.

they need to return to the old ways where the kid does wrong they get their butts tanned. There use to be a whole lot less crime when Parents could tan their kids asses when they do wrong.
Chatham voice needs to clarify the story no video was ever posted to social media it was simply word of mouth about the bike. CK police make it sound like they busted a crime ring when it was an old $50 bike.

I can guarantee their was no video as I was the one who turned him in. It was my friends bike and the video they are speaking of was never circulated on social media the story is incorrect. I saw my friends post about the bike on facebook about his old bike being stolen. The actual video still has not even been retrieved from the building superintendent as its not needed the boy confessed taking it to ride home to dresden from chatham. So whatever video you claim to have seen it's not about this case. As I am part of this case. I'm not defending the kid but this story makes it sound as if they cracked the bike theft ring that's happening in chatham when all it was, was a young boy who did a dumb thing. He will get his due and I hope he learns his lesson
