A Chatham man is being commended by police for being a good neighbour and stopping a would-be thief.
Yesterday afternoon, a resident on Foster Street saw a man stealing a push lawnmower and weed whacker from his neighbour’s garden shed on Scane Street. He confronted the man as he pushed the stolen items down St. Patrick Street. The items were returned to the homeowner who advised police he didn’t want to pursue charges against the 31-year-old Chatham man.
The Chatham-Kent Police would like to commend the neighbour for his quick actions that ultimately resulted in the thief being identified and the stolen property being returned to its rightful owner.
If you see or hear anything suspicious, please call police immediately.
