The Ontario Health Study invites local residents to book an appointment to contribute to a healthier future at the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres on June 21-22.

Residents in the area between the ages 30 and 74 are encouraged to participate in a long-term health research study and complete a short questionnaire and provide a blood sample.

Researchers are looking to specifically answer questions about chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease with this age group.

Results from the study may help improve the prevention and diagnosis of these diseases, as well as allow for a better understanding of what affects our health and quality of life in Ontario.

“Participation in the Ontario Health Study is crucial to obtain reliable data on the status of our health,” said Dr. David Colby, Medical Officer of Health of Chatham-Kent.

Each participant will receive a comprehensive blood analysis report of where his or her personal health falls within a reference range.

New participants can visit www.ontariohealthstudy.ca/Join to register and complete the online questionnaire that more than 235,000 Ontarians have already taken.

The Study Centre will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the 21, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 22.

The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres is located on 150 Richmond St., Chatham.
