Adam Frenette has shown he’s among the best in Canada and North America and now he’s ready to take on the world.
The Certified Master Service Technician at Lally Kia will be heading to Seoul, South Korea next week as he competes in the Kia Skill World Cup.
After making his way through the Canadian quarter finals, semi finals and finals, he qualified for the North American Championships in Irvine, California where he competed against four Canadian and 16 American Master Technicians, some returning to the competition for the second and third time.
Each day was divided into five 45-minute rounds on topics such as transmissions, engine diagnosis, engine mechanical, networking and electrical.
When the scores were tabulated, Adam was third in the Canadian division. Since only the top two qualified, Adam was resigned to having done extremely well against top competitors.
And then the phone rang.
“The second place technician was not able to attend… and I received a phone call asking (me) to join Kia Canada on the trip.”
Adam, who’s been with Lally Kia since May of 2014, said he’s “ever so grateful” for the opportunity but admits it’s a lot to absorb.
“I get to test my skill, knowledge and ability to repair on a global scale – try not think of that while working day to day.”
Thank you for the amazing article Jim.
