DNA evidence led to an arrest for Chatham-Kent police yesterday.
Back in December, police responded to a home on Murray Street in Wallaceburg after a thief attempted to steal a truck. The damage was consistent with efforts made to start the truck and steal it and was estimated at $2000. The truck was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.
Police received a report from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.
Last night, shortly after 7:00 p.m. police located the man in Chatham and he was arrested. A 36-year-old Moraviantown man has been charged with attempted theft of motor vehicle and mischief over $5000. He was released pending a future court date of April 26.
