Police conducted a high-risk traffic stop yesterday after a motorist reported a truck whose occupants were waving what appeared to be handguns out the window.
Just after 4:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent OPP officers responded to a complaint involving a Chevrolet pickup truck traveling southbound on Highway 40, and heading east on Highway 401.
OPP were told male parties in the vehicle were allegedly observed shooting handguns outside the window. The vehicle left the highway at Kent Bridge Road and continued into Ridgetown. Chatham-Kent OPP officers, with Chatham-Kent Police Service officers, located the vehicle in Ridgetown and a high risk traffic stop was conducted. Five males were arrested. Police searched the vehicle and found toy imitation firearms.
All five males were released and cautioned on the carelessness of their actions.
No charges were laid. No injuries were reported.
I can't believe that no charges were laid……their actions of yesterday should have some consequences. It is time we started to make people accountable for their actions. At the very least they should me made to publicly apologize for what they did….maybe even pay for the time the police wasted on their stupidity..
Maybe the police should be out driving around more often and catch them going 100 Kilometres an hr on every street in ridgetown before kids get killed by theses wreck less drivers. I guess that's what it will take thou. A kid to get killed before they actually do anything about it.
