A driver learned the hard way on the weekend that there’s speeding, and then there’s speeding.
On Saturday, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Scane Side Road, just before 10:00 p.m. and saw an eastbound BMW SUV that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of approximately 183 km/hr, which increased to approximately 190 km/hr at times.
The 39-year-old male driver from London has been charged with racing. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.
