On February 26 just before 7 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the eastbound OnRoute Service Centre in Tilbury, where a male had reported being assaulted.
Officers learned that the complainant and another male had an incident of road rage prior to stopping at the service centre. When both parties were inside the service centre, the suspect confronted the complainant and words were exchanged, after which the suspect allegedly assaulted the complainant and left the scene in a vehicle heading eastbound on Highway 401.
Officers located the vehicle shortly after and as a result of further investigation, a 48 year-old Greater Napanee man, has been charged with assault, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on April 1, 2016, to answer to the charge.
The complainant did not report any injuries.
