A 27-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with assault with a weapon after threatening a family member with a machete.
Chatham-Kent police said Monday night around 7:30 p.m. the man approached a family member with a machete and began threatening him outside on Fergie Jenkins Parkway in Chatham
The family member was able to disarm the man prior to police arrival.
The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The family member was not injured. The machete was seized by police as evidence.
The has also faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He has been released pending a future court date of March 8, 2016.
