Yesterday afternoon around 2:40 p.m. police responded to Tim Hortons on Third Street in Chatham in regards to an intoxicated man in the store who was refusing to leave. Officers found the man was unable to care for himself so for his own safety he was taken into custody.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released when sober.

Last night around 6:30 p.m. police responded to the area of Murray Street in Wallaceburg in regards to an intoxicated woman wandering through a parking lot. The woman was almost struck by a car. Officers located the woman and she was taken into custody for her own safety as she was in no condition to care for herself.

The 22-year-old Walpole Island woman was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. She was released when sober.
