Yesterday, officers from the Chatham-Kent Police Services Traffic Unit and Ministry of Transportation’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit participated in a Joint Forces Operation, conducting safety inspections on commercial motor vehicles that were operating throughout the Chatham area.
Officers inspected a total of 19 commercial vehicles, their loads and the driver’s qualifications and documentation. 12 vehicles were taken out of service for having serious safety infractions. A total of 23 charges were laid.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all commercial motor vehicle operators that safety inspections will continue to be conducted on a regular basis in an on-going effort to keep our Chatham-Kent roadways safe for all road users.
