Chatham-Kent OPP continue to investigate a serious accident that took place on Canada Day on the 401.
Police say just after 5 p.m. July 1, emergency personnel responded to a crash in the eastbound lanes of the 401 near Bloomfield Road, involving a tractor trailer and a Ford Taurus.
The Taurus rear-ended the big rig, police say, as the truck was stopped on the highway due to traffic congestion ahead.
The driver of the Taurus, a 27-year-old Ridgetown man, was airlifted to hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The transport driver wasn’t hurt.
Police ask anyone with information relating to this collision to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
