A strong gust of wind is being blamed after a tractor-trailer wound up on the wrong side of the 401 Monday afternoon.
OPP report officers responded to a call about 3:30 p.m. yesterday in regards to a big rig heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Merlin Road.
Police say the Peterbilt tractor-trailer was stopped in the left lane of the westbound lanes, facing the wrong direction, when the officers arrived.
The driver told police a strong gust of wind caught the empty trailer and pushed the truck to the point it caught the shoulder of the highway and then crossed the median and entered the westbound passing lane.
Officers slowed traffic in both directions to escort the truck back into the eastbound lanes.
No one was injured and Mother Nature is not facing charges.
