Teens and twentysomethings dominated the police blotter recently.
Chatham-Kent police have charged a teen for obstructing justice after they allege she helped another person flee from the police.
The incident took place last night when police entered a Chatham apartment building for a follow up. The youth led officers to the wrong apartment, police say, and was texting on her cell phone, which they discovered was to the person they were looking for.
The message: “Leave now.”
And when officers got to the right apartment, no one was there.
The police seized a 17-year-old Harwich girl’s cell phone as evidence and arrested her for obstructing police.
Meanwhile, early this morning, police tracked down a 19-year-old woman they’ve wanted for a week.
Police say the woman was released from custody with a condition that she live at a specific address in Blenheim. But on June 8, officers discovered she was no longer living there.
Out comes the warrant for her arrest.
Where do police find their suspect? Leaving a convenience store at 4 a.m. this morning on Grand Avenue West.
Upon her arrest search, officers found a quantity of methamphetamine on her, police say. That breached another release condition.
The 19-year-old woman, of no fixed address now faces drug possession charges as well as three counts of failing to comply.
Police scooped up another person without a permanent residence last night, and a name got scratched off the local constabulary’s wanted list.
Police say a warrant was issued for this guy’s arrest back in April, as he is said to have failed to comply with conditions of his probation.
Officers tracked the man down last night in Chatham.
A 26-year-old man of no fixed address spent the night in jail and has a bail hearing ahead of him.
