Two men are in custody after someone tried to break into a Queen Street restaurant in Chatham early this morning.
Police say officer responded to an alarm at Mike’s Place shortly before 3 a.m. They arrived to discover someone had broken in, stole about $300 in booze, and fled.
The investigation led police to two men who officers tracked down and arrested about 5 a.m. on Park Street.
Police say during the arrest, one of the men gave a false identity. Once police found out who he really was, they learned he is bound by several release conditions.
A 22-year-old Chatham man is charged with break and enter. A 19-year-old Walpole Island man is charged with break and enter, as well as obstruct police and five counts of failing to comply.
