Friday was Food Freedom Day in Canada. It’s the day when the average Canadian has earned enough income to pay for his or her grocery bill for the full year.
In Canada, the event took place 37 days into the year. According to the Kent Federation of Agriculture (KFA), Canadians are able to celebrate this day much earlier than people in many other countries.
The Kent Federation of Agriculture recognized Food Freedom Day by co-ordinating local food donations to the Salvation Army and Outreach for Hunger in Chatham-Kent.
Let's use $11 an hour, since that seems to be the going rate here in Chatham. $11 @ 8 hours per day $88 x 40 days, no days off. $3520 divide by 52 weeks $67 per week. Guess it could work if you never buy meat.
