A 54-year-old Chatham man faces numerous charges in connection with a domestic disturbance in Chatham early this morning.
Police say about 1:30 a.m., a man and woman started arguing, and that escalated when the man assaulted the woman and demanded that she stay in a specific room in the home.
The woman tried to leave, police say, and the man assaulted her again.
The 54-year-old man is charged with assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.
