Chatham-Kent OPP hope the public can help then track down a trio of young men.

Police say just after 10 p.m., an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle on Highway 401, but the driver refused to stop.

The car, a 1999 red Pontiac Grand Am, was found abandoned in the ditch on the 401 off ramp at Orford Road, police say.

It turns out, the vehicle had been stolen from a Park Avenue residence in Chatham.

Police say passersby reported seeing three people outside the ditched car and they left on foot. Police believe they were headed back towards Chatham.

Despite bringing in a canine unit and the Emergency Response Team, the trio wasn’t located.

Police describe the three as young, male and Caucasian. One was seen wearing a white jacket.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Chatham-Kent OPP at 519-352-1122 and speak with Const. Baxter.
