The independent movie “Daughter of the King” will be shown on TVCOGECO in Chatham starting Wednesday.
The movie, which stars local actors Debra van Gaalen and Florin Marksteiner, is coming off two successful film festivals, winning five awards in total at the Accolade Global Film Competition and the Indie Fest film awards.
The production follows Ashley Miller (van Gaalen) as she tries to rebuild herself and return to a normal life after a drug-filled episode in her life that landed her in jail. An outstanding debt gets her sucked back into the underworld that is ruled by Haydar (Marksteiner), a ruthless man that forces her into slavery. She becomes his property. In the darkest moments Nadia, her close friend, descends in her life like an angel bringing her back to the light and setting her free.
The film will premiere on TVCOGECO on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m., with two more showings, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 8:30 p.m.
