Chatham-Kent’s top cop is hanging up his uniform next spring.
Dennis Poole, chief of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, tendered his retirement announcement to the Police Services.
Pat Belanger, chair of the board, said with accumulated vacation and lieu time, Poole will be done as of April 24, 2015.
She added he will be missed.
“Chief Poole is recognized as a leader in Canadian policing because of his innovative thinking, creative problem solving, and promotion of the use of the latest technological advances,” she said in a media release. “His dedication to the safety of the citizens of Chatham-Kent is the result of the implementation of community policing and the restructuring of the police service to make it more efficient and effective. He will be hard to replace.”
The board will meet in the near future to discuss how it will go about selecting a successor.
