Chatham-Kent police report a 14-year-old boy appears to have drowned at Erieau Saturday.
Police say they initially received a report of a missing teen in the village of Erieau. Residents, personnel from Chatham-Kent Fire Station 14 and police searched the area in a co-ordinated effort.
Shortly after 1 a.m., the boy’s body was discovered and recovered in the water off the beach in Erieau.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask that anyone with any information that could assist officers in piecing together what happened to contact Det. Const. Dan Hamilton at 519-436-6600 ext. 284.
At the request of family, police are not releasing the boy’s name at this time.
