Chatham-Kent police picked up a pair of teenagers in two separate incidents shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, one for allegedly stealing from a food truck, and the other for failing to comply with his curfew.

Police say an officer saw a youth pushing a shopping cart along Grand Avenue West about 4:15 a.m. The cart contained frozen meat, pop and power tools.

The officer discovered the items were stolen from a food truck and shed in the area.

The 16-year-old Chatham teen faces charges of break and enter, theft under $5,000, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000.

He’s free and wandering our streets as he awaits a future court date.

Meanwhile, about 4:20 a.m., an officer saw a youth walking south on Lacroix Street. The youth, police say, was released from custody back in February with conditions that he abide by 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.

This 17-year-old spent the rest of the night in jail, pending a bail hearing.
