The housekeeping and laundry services are staying in-house at Riverview Gardens.
Tami Gillier, director of senior services, provided a presentation on the results of a service review at the long-term-care facility.
South Kent Coun. Karen Herman entered a successful motion to keep the service in-house.
Herman said the headache that would be caused by outsourcing the services wouldn’t be worth it.
“It’s a job we’re doing in house. I can’t imagine us doing anything else,” she said.
Chatham Coun. Bob Myers said some people in the community look at long-term care facilities as “institutions,” but it is home for the people there.
“They need to feel they are safe and that their belongings are safe,” Myers said.
