A Chatham man faces charges of trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a peace officer after an incident in town last night.

Chatham-Kent police say they were called to a disturbance on Park Avenue Monday night when a man locked himself in the bathroom of a relative’s home and refused to come out. A family member forced the door open and police went to apprehend the man when police say he began swinging his arms and pulling away.

Police eventually arrested the man and took him to headquarters. The arresting officer sustained a hand injury as a result of getting kicked, police said, requiring a trip to the hospital for treatment.
