Chatham’s Guspro Inc. recently added to its operations by acquiring Ice King, makers of ice maintenance equipment used in curling rinks.
The company will manufacture the Ice King product line in Chatham.
“Ice King is known for their outstanding curling equipment and impeccable customer service,” Brian Sunnen, vice president of Guspro, said in a release. “We’re very excited to continue that tradition under the Guspro umbrella.”
Les Herman, manager of finance and administration with Guspro, doesn’t anticipate much in the way of new employment as a result of the acquisition.
He said there is great potential with the acquisition of Ice King.
“We can take it to another level,” he said. “We’re No. 1 in the world in skate sharpening with Blademaster, and they (Ice King) are known similarly in curling circles.”
But Herman believes there is room to grow even at the top.
