The senior boys’ basketball team from Chatham-Kent Secondary School took home top spot at a recent tournament.
The CKSS squad won the John Thrasher Invitational over the weekend, hosted by Sarnia Northern.
CK topped Brantford North Park 52-46 in the title game. Ian Smart dropped 17 points and was named tournament MVP. Marley Blommers, a Grade 10 starter, chipped in with 11 points and was named as a tournament all star.
Dan Allman had 13 points in the final, while Jake Lindley netted five.
The road to the title saw the Golden Hawks beat Burlington Notre Dame 34-32 to open the tournament, with Smart leading the way with 17 points.
In the semi-finals, CK controlled Windsor Kennedy 64-38. Allman and Blommers led the way with 18 points each, while Smart netted his usual 17 yet again.
