Aggressive driving has resulted in a Blenheim man facing a slew of charges.

Chatham-Kent police say one of their officers was on patrol on Middle Line Saturday evening when he noticed a car pass two others at a high rate of speed.

Police say the officer followed the car, clocked it doing 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone and pulled over the driver.

The traffic stop resulted in the officer learning the driver is serving a lifetime driving ban for what police say are “previous criminal driving convictions.” The driver also has unpaid fines.

Furthermore, the car also contained two passengers who appeared to be intoxicated, as well as an infant.

Police say the officer smelled booze on the driver’s breath, and gave him a roadside test.

A 37-year-old Blenheim man is charged with driving while disqualified, driving while under suspension, and speeding. Had the man had a valid licence, it would have been suspended for three days, for having a blood alcohol concentration in the warn range.

Police impounded the vehicle for 45 days in accordance with Ontario’s Vehicle Impoundment Program.
