According to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, local folks do indeed get a little full-moon fever.
Const. Renee Cowell, media relations officer with the service, said they tracked the lunar cycle and overlaid a graph of their calls for service in 2013, and the results indicated when the moon is full, the citizens are restless. Well, to some extent.
“It is interesting to see the full moon and how it impacts our calls,” she said. “A third of the time, it makes a significant difference, a third of the time there is some impact and a third of the time there is no difference.”
Cowell added the biggest impact occurs when the moon is full on a weekend.
“That’s not at all shocking for police,” she said.
