The Chatham Maple City Electric U19 Thunder took third place in the Pickering ringette tournament this past weekend.
In round-robin play, the Thunder went 3-1, putting them in a three-way tie for top spot, but Chatham ended up not moving on and had to settle for third.
Chatham opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over Mississauga. Claire Hedrick and Tristen Stewart had two goals each, while Hannah Doforno, Kayla Therrien, Courtney Roberts and Kara Hueniken also scored.
The Thunder then shut out Cambridge 5-0. Alissa Reid turned aside all Cambridge scoring attempts to earn the shutout. Carys Owen, Jane Van Oirschot, Therrien, Doforno and Hueniken scored for Chatham.
Richmond Hill turned the tables on Chatham, shutting them out 3-0.
The Thunder rallied to defeat Ajax in their final game, 2-0. Doforno and Hueniken did the damage for Chatham. Reid picked up her second shutout.
