Gamers and fundraising may not usually go in the same sentence, but a weekend effort at the Game Masters Emporium may be changing that.

Some two dozen gamers held a 25-hour marathon session overnight Saturday and Sunday, raising $1,000 for Sick Kids hospital in Toronto.

Game Master Emporium owner Chris Bullard said the idea came about from a trip one of his friends made to Toronto earlier this year at which the idea was discussed.

“We were part of the extralife.org effort which was called Fun and Games for Aches And Pains,” he said.  “Gamers around the world raised more than $3 million, which went to whatever causes were in their particular area.”
