Area emergency service personnel are taking to the road for a good cause Sept. 7 and invite the community to join them.
Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, Chatham-Kent Fire Department, Chatham-Kent Medavie EMS and Chatham-Kent OPP will participate in the second annual Cycling for Hope bicycle ride in support of cancer.
This is a 20-, 40- or 60-kilometre ride that is open to all who want to participate. The ride will start at the Union Gas building located at 555 Riverview Dr. in Chatham.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the event will promptly begin at 8:30 a.m. Cyclists will travel west on Riverview Road to Tecumseh Line, then into Lakeshore and to Lighthouse Cove. Signs will be posted along the route for all cyclists to follow.
Registration is $50 per adult and $25 for children 12 and under. Those wishing to register as a family may do so for $100. Registration fees will be waived with a minimum of $100 individual or $200 in family donations.
