Weapon, drug charges

What began as a road rage investigation ended with one man charged for firearm and drug offences.

On June 10, Chatham-Kent police obtained a warrant to search a man’s residence in connection to a road rage incident on May 26. The warrant authorized officers to search for firearms and ammunition.

They found that, and more, police say.

Members of the intelligence unit and ERT officers executed the warrant that evening, arresting a 32-year-old man for unauthorized possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm.

And then they searched the home. Police say the officers found two sets of brass knuckles, 26 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), digital scales, packaging material, cash, a cell phone, three spent 9-mm casings and one 9-mm round.

Total value of the illegal drugs was estimated at $4,800.

As a result of the search, the suspect faces two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
